Automatic, versioned project backups for DaVinci Resolve — by Maximilian Raible
maximilianraible.com/backup-brain

QUICK START
1. Copy the matching edition into Resolve's scripts folder:
   - "Max's Backup Brain.lua" → for DaVinci Resolve Studio
   - "Max's Backup Brain (Free).lua" → for the free version of Resolve (19.1+)

   macOS: ~/Library/Application Support/Blackmagic Design/DaVinci Resolve/Fusion/Scripts/Utility/
   Windows: %APPDATA%\Blackmagic Design\DaVinci Resolve\Support\Fusion\Scripts\Utility\

2. Restart DaVinci Resolve.
3. Open it via Workspace → Scripts → Max's Backup Brain.
4. Settings → enable "Run automatically in the background" (macOS).
Then forget it exists — until the day it saves you.

THREE LAYERS OF PROTECTION
• Your open project every 15 min as versioned .drp — only on real changes
• A daily sweep through ALL projects of your library
• A full copy of every project library when Resolve quits (external drives too)

Retention: everything from 24 h · daily for 14 days · weekly for 26 weeks.
Optional mirror to a second disk. Restore ALWAYS creates a copy — your current
work is never overwritten.

Backups are plain files in Documents/Project Vault. No cloud, no accounts,
no telemetry.

Full instructions: see "Manual (English).md" / "Handbuch (Deutsch).md".
